The postpartum period is a time of physical recovery for the mother. Adequate nutrition can help support healing, reduce inflammation, and boost energy levels. Women who are breastfeeding require additional calories and nutrients, and it is important to consume a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods.

Request additional labs at your 6w appointment. This is not routine, but you can request it. Helpful labs to include are a full thyroid panel (not just TSH), vitamin D (25-hydroxy-vitamin D), vitamin B12, and iron panel.
